Remembering Debbe Begley

Arizona Golden Rescue lost a Founder, a Member, and a Dear Friend on Saturday June 18, 2011.  Debbe did so much for Arizona Golden Rescue that she will be missed terribly for both her dedication to the "Dogs" and to the great friendships that so many developed with her.

I would like this posting on this Blog to be for a spot that people who knew Debbe can reflect and share their memories of Debbe.

Please feel free to share your memories here.

  1. Debbe was a tireless worker for all the dogs and she will be missed not just for her hard work but for her loving way with canines and humans. I'm sure you had a great welcome as you crossed the Rainbow Bridge Debbe.

  2. Debbe was one of the kindest, most dedicated people I have ever known. It was my privilege to call her my friend. She was dedicated and lived to give goldens the best life possible. We were all better for having her in our lives. To say she will be missed is an understatement.

  3. Every golden and every person was important to my friend, Debbe. She cared deeply and always asked about my first goldens, Bear and Sandy, and treasured my current fur family, Holly, McKenna, and Tessa. She cared as if they were her own.Debbe was a wonderful writer and she would write these hilarious stories about her dogs and what they were thinking. She was forever passionate about rescue and always had new ideas and was ready to tackle the next project. Holly and I stopped by to see her a few days before she passed and she was such a sharp cookie remember everything she wanted to do for the Bowlerama and also sharing all of the songs and plans for her memorial service. She always had that beautiful smile and enthusiasm right up until the end! Thanks for being my friend! Love ya, girl! :)

  4. Although I have known Debbe through a couple of rescues we worked together in, it was only this passed year we chatted more and got to know each other better. She was a tireless spirit who did everything with her heart. If there is a rescue in Heaven, be sure Ms. Debbe is already there giving directions. We will miss you! Angela P.

  5. Debbe was such an inspiring, selfless, dedicated director of AGR. I will long remember her for how she always made us feel welcome at every event, always had a warm smile and a hug, thankful for every person that attended. Doing gift-wrapping at B&N this year just won't be the same without Debbe and her elf hat, rolled up pants with striped socks, and singing "Who let the dogs out" with her chorus of goldens. I will miss you, my friend! I love to think of her welcome at the bridge when she sees Khaki again in that beautiful place! Such a loving soul!

  6. You're exactly right Debbie B. Debbe always had the warmest and most welcoming smile of anyone I had ever met. Even when long periods would happen between events I could attend, she always welcomed me with open arms, a kiss and a 1,000 watt smile. I truly don't think she had ever met a stranger.
Debbe your time on Earth was well spent caring for those that have no voice...you did good girl!!
I look forward to seeing you again someday, surrounded by our Goldens.
    Love Always,
    Joyce Hubler

Wrangler, Komon, Lucy, Megan, Charlie and Spikie and all our others running with Debbe on the other side of the Rainbow.

  7. Debbe was my heroine! Aside from all of the wonderful things that she and Patrick did for our rescue dogs, she showed us what real faith is with her own dog, Sandy.

Most of us would have given up on a 14 year old dog with bad hips and a severely broken leg. We would have taken the quicker, cheaper way out, and put the dog down, that is the truth. But Debbe knew that Sandy still had spunk in her, and Debbe turned her life upside down to give old Sandy the rest of her natural life. The rehabilitation was long and painful and very expensive, but so worth it to Debbe and Sandy.
Debbe taught me to not give up so easy, no matter what others may say, and to follow your heart.

She's proved the old saying that only the good die young. And reinforced my belief that life is short, so eat dessert first!

Incredibly, up to the very end, her thoughts were always about making sure that the show would gone without her, and tried to make it as smooth as possible for the rest of is to follow. Her courage was awe -inspiring, and I know I will never forget how gracefully she dealt with her fate.
